
Phoebe Gay Curtis, 52, of Indianapolis, passed away May 6, 2014 at her home with her husband by her side. She was born to Ernest and Essie Keen on Nov 24, 1961 and went to the Indiana School for the Deaf. She was a great homemaker who loved to paint and decorate contemporary designs in the home. She associated with many deaf people who loved her and will miss her. The computer became her best friend once she met a card game like Skipbo only it’s called SpiteNET. It allowed up to 4 players online to play and it became her favorite of all things. Camping became a favorite around the turn of the century, where she was able to meet with many deaf campers. She loved the people who gave her life and her family.
She is survived by husband of 24 years, Paul Curtis; sons, Nicholas Curtis and George Owens; daughter, Renee Owens; grandson, John Paul; grand-daughters, Cassidy, Jasmine, and Abigail; father, Ernest Keen; mother, Essie Griffin. Murl Keen, Everett Keen, Arvine Keen, Donnie Keen, Brian Keen, Shawn Bowling, Robin Chastain, Destiny Gonzalez, Shannon Hoskins are the siblings surviving her. She was preceded in death by her step mother, Nancy Keen and brother, Ronnie Keen.
A memorial will take place at the Greater Indianapolis Deaf Club located at 1917 E 46TH ST, Indianapolis, IN 46205 on May 17, 2014 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Bring any of your favorite dishes.
